He is a simple and smart man living alone as he lost his wife few years back because of cancer. He accepted this big blow of fate with equanimity though his heart was full of pain.
He has a simple
but important job which gives him the satisfaction of being a top notch
professional.
He comes
across many dames in office and parties but the memory of his wife is too
strong. He has got into the habit of whatsapping her and even talking randomly
sweet things on the phone as if nothing has happened.
He gets a
very strong feeling that she is very much listening to him somewhere out there.
He half expects her to respond to his messages or even words.
He even has
been having dreams that she was around in the house. And lately he has been
hearing static noise that sounds like her cooing. He has started wondering at
the meaning of all this though he does not much believe in the super natural.
The other
day he just asked her while talking on the phone what she expected from him if
she was back. They had plans to have a baby soon and he was stuck by pangs of
remorse when all this happened out of the blue.
When he went
to bed he was somehow full of anticipation without any reason. He is in deep
sleep and suddenly he can feel her cooing sweetly from very near. The
atmosphere is full of a static hiss and suddenly he can hear her say these
words – Come darling I am back. You only have to open your eyes. And now for
the baby I always wanted.
These words
thrilled him and suddenly he realized it was a dream. Yet there was something
strange in the room – There was a mesmerizing light pouring in from the
courtyard. Could this be happening?
He got out
of the bed and fumbled around little making his way to the window to the
courtyard from where a mystical but very real light was emanating.
He peered
through the window curtain and could not believe his eyes. He could make out a sweet
ghostly figure resembling her sitting on the chair while the whole courtyard
was awash with the mysterious light from a small space ship like object at the
edge of the courtyard.
He stepped
out and took her gently into his arms. She just whispered – I could hear every
word you used to say on the phone. Meanwhile the little flying saucer left
without a sound taking with it the light.
And in the darkness they stood as one in each other’s arms.
You have nicely explained the sadness of losing ones spouse. Personal tragedy has come to fore.
